Here is a blog of us and our upcoming 'Little Hardt'. We will do our best to keep you filled in on all of the experiences--good and bad--and keep you in the loop of all the fun we're having.
We had a final ultrasound this morning to check on the placenta. We're happy to say that the placenta has moved quite a bit up and I no longer have placenta previa. This means that we can have our natural, vaginal, childbirth that we are hoping for. The also did a quick check at the heart, brain, bladder, kidneys, legs, arms, and they confirmed (again) it's still a girl!
Our Rick Springfield weekend only got better on Friday as we viewed a private showing of his new documentary, "An Affair Of The Heart". They started to film this documentary two years ago and interviewed me and my love for Rick. I was able to confirm that I made it to the final cut. To what extent or how much I was in it, I did not know....but, it was worth it to go and see. It was a great experience. I'm only it for three seconds, but, my name is in the credits at the end, and we got to take home some nice swag bags and Rick loot.
We had brought my 'Baby in My Belly' sign from the night before. He saw it and definitely smiled at me, so, he remembered me from last night. All of us were invited on stage for a group photo, and I got him to sign my sign, and got this priceless piece of parenting advice.
Last night, was of the most incredible concert experiences ever. It was my annual Rick Springfield concert at Northern Lights Theatre at the Potawatomi Casino. Every year, my girlfriend Denise and I go and sometimes Aaron is able to score a cheap or free seat to come with. Denise and I had great front row balcony seats and Aaron was able to get a cheap seat a couple rows behind us. During his shows, Rick will come out to the audience for his song "Don't Talk To Strangers" and "Human Touch". And, on a lucky night, he will come up to the balcony as well. I knew I had to prepare and give him a reason to come to the balcony. I thought a sign of some sort talking about the baby would be a good way. Aaron brilliantly suggested 'The Baby In My Belly Needs The Human Touch.' I worked on this sign this past week and was ready to go for a show! Unexpectedly, I happened to also score a last minute, FREE, balcony seat to the show as well, so, we decided to drag my mom along. This took some pleading, but, I knew she would have a great time. We worked our way down to the show and the time has now come for him to come out to the audience. Rick was singing "Don't Talk To Strangers" and was standing on a table in the middle of the audience when he looked up to me, saw my sign, and read it out loud. It was great watching his reaction as he realized what it said. I immediately turned to the side and rubbed my growing belly and the audience reacted nicely with some oooh's and ahh's. He replied with, "I'll try to make it up there." He then commented on my Wonder Woman t-shirt I was wearing (one of Rick's first acting jobs was a couple episodes on "Wonder Woman" with Lynda Carter. And, next Rick, actually asked if I knew what it was, and I shouted down, "It's a girl!" It was great. Just that little experience would have made me happy. But, it got so much better.
Now, Rick is singing "Human Touch" and he makes his way out the exit and we all know that means he's coming to the balcony!!! Rick ends up on the other side of where we are and is giving some of his fans the 'human touch'. I am proudly displaying my sign in the air, he sees this, and makes a beeline right to me!!! I know in my heart of hearts that he is up there for me and my baby girl! He is getting closer and I am expecting just a touch or a hug, maybe even a touch on the belly would be great....but, I am NOT expecting him to bend down and actually KISS my pregnant belly!!! I could not believe what just happened! The audience reacts greatly and I do end up also getting a full, sweaty, Rick Springfield hug. I ended this experience with jumping up and down excitingly and not being able to control my camera..hence, the camera work at the end. I am so grateful that my friend, Denise, Aaron, and my mom were there to experience this with me.
Our baby's first rock concert, in utero.
This morning I woke up to baby girl moving and kicking. This wasn't too surprising as I've been feeling it for 2 weeks now. But, when I took the comforter off I could actually see my belly move as she kicked and/or punched me! It was so exhilarting and exciting! I just laid there for half an hour and played with her as she she played back with me. Here are two videos of some of the movements:
