Milk Monster !!!

Lorelei made up for not gaining any weight last week with an 8 ounce gain! For her, this is HUGE and is most likely due to some changes in her eating. Unfortunately, it looks like Mommy's milk is drying up. This could be happening for a variety of reasons (i.e. it's just my body and there is no way of stopping it, I am doing more physically and that is affecting it, or she is getting bigger and needing more food). Unfortunately, we'll never exactly know why. So, we have been experimenting and right now it seems that what works is Mommy will nurse in the morning and pump milk all day. We've been feeding her that milk via a bottle and then will supplement with formula as needed. It has been driven into my thick skull that formula is not the 'f' word and it is okay to use. There are pro's and con's that come with this new eating plan. The con's are that Mommy has been feeling let down, sad, and depressed that she isn't able to provide for Lorelei like she used to. The pro's are that Lorelei is taking the bottle wonderfully, we know exactly how much she is eating, and is sleeping great--sometimes 12 hours a night. This has also been a mental relief for both Mommy and Daddy. However, Mommy will definitely miss the special bonding we have made via nursing and we are grateful to (so far) have our morning nursing sessions. We would love to meet our goal of 6 months of breastfeeding which will be on February 22nd. Wish us luck!

Happy 5 Months!

Lorelei turned 5 months old this past week. We can't believe what a big girl she's getting to be! Her weight seems to have stayed the same this week, but, her doctor is not worried and feels it might be because of her recent nasty cold! We had almost a week of runny nose, sneezes, and coughs, but, luckily no fever.

Four Generations!!!

We were able to meet Great-Grandma Marilyn, Grandma Margaret, and Grandpa George for brunch this weekend. It was great to see everyone and celebrate 4 generations of women in the family. As you can see, Lorelei dressed up for the occasion.

Lorelei's First B & B

This past weekend we took Lorelei to her first Bed & Breakfast. We took her to our 'Log Cabin' room at the Cambridge House in Cambridge, WI. It is only about 30 minutes away and is where Aaron proposed to me. This was our 11th visit and the owners, Jeff & Linda are simply the best. They always welcome us with a wonderful wine and appetizer reception, great conversation, and we end the night with the best cookie treats! The morning greets us with yummy banana bread, cocoa for Aaron, and coffee for Jamie. Our favorite breakfast is filet mignon eggs benedict and it is the best ever! Lorelei was such an angel during our visit. We were very apprehensive about how she would sleep and how we would sleep all in the same room as she is a bit of a noisy sleeper. But, we all did very well and she wasn't fussy all weekend. She took quite a liking to Jeff and Linda and of course, the big massage chair.

Bumbo Seat!

We got Lorelei a Bumbo seat so she could start learning how to sit up. She enjoys it for about 5 minutes and then she's done.

Tickle! Tickle! Tickle! Tickle!

The video speaks for itself!

Another Milestone Reached !!!

During the past week, Lorelei would roll herself on her side. We knew it was just a matter of time before she rolled herself from her back to front. Here are some fun, close attempts and then she finally does it!

4 Month Check Up

Lorelei had her 4 month check up on Friday. We felt a lot more confident in her and us as parents than at her last visit. She weighed in at just over 12 pounds and is a whopping 24 inches tall! So, she is tall and skinny--perfectly healthy. It also was vaccine day. She did as you could expect during it, but, later in the afternoon we had some trouble. Everything she experienced was in the parameters of 'normal'. But, the high-pitched cries, fussiness, fever of 100.4, and discomfort were not fun at all! She also woke up twice in the night for nursing which has not been her sleeping pattern. She has been sleeping around 10 hours straight. After a 5am trip to Walgreens for baby Tylenol, Saturday got a little easier and she even slept 13 hours straight Saturday night (her personal best)!

Happy New Year!

We had a fantastic New Year reminiscing about how 1 year ago we found out we were pregnant with Lorelei. We went to Aaron's favorite restaurant, Fishbone's, and then we went to see our friend, Eric, play in his Neil Diamond tribute band. She was the hit of the party!

P.S. We were all asleep by 10pm. :)
